Housing provision is one of the key drivers of economic growth in the Tees Valley through both increasing the offer of the sub-region to entrepreneurs and wealth creators and to reduce outward migration by offering wider choice.
At Tees Valley Unlimited we work closely with our local authority, Housing Association and private housebuilding partners to ensure the development of well designed, environmentally sustainable and socially mixed communities.
At the same time we are utilising the resources of all sectors and stakeholders to help sweep away our legacy of poor private housing and help balance housing needs and tenure choice in some of our sprawling mono-tenure housing estates that have for too long created community imbalance, deterred inward investment and encouraged out-migration.
Our work involves:
- Settling the strategic context for housing investment in the Sub-Regional Housing Strategy through strategies and other means
- Monitoring the impact of sub-regional housing regeneration policy through our unique Community Vitality and Housing Viability Index (subject to continuation funding)
- Commissioning Strategic Housing Market Assessments on behalf of our local authority partners
- Working with local authority partners to ensure emerging planning policies and new strategic housing proposals match the housing aspirations of our Statement of Housing Ambition
- Preparing, submitting and managing housing related sub-regional funding bids on behalf of our partners
