Overview of the Sector in Tees Valley
The digital and creative sector is a central theme for enterprise development across each Tees Valley. This activity is focused on the work of Digital City, based in Middlesbrough, and Teesside University, mentoring and supporting entrepreneurs to accelerate the start up rate of new companies and maximising their high growth potential. Teesside University is one of the leading universities in animation and computer gaming, hosting the annual international Animex conference each year and producing over 400 graduates annually from its School of Computing.
The new Creative Hub in Redcar will also house creative firms, Darlington is home to a number of major players, including Lygo International and Webworks and there is real expertise in the Tees Valley at the likes of Cleveland College of Art and Design and Tees Valley Arts.

Based at Digital City, 13 Strides are a digital sports agency providing media and web design and have worked for the likes of Channel 4.
Based in Middlesbrough, Amazing Interactives are expert in 3d animation with clients particularly in the health and education sectors.
Online digital marketing support company, which specializes in e-commerce software, web design and digital marketing. Clients include the likes of Costa Coffee, KFC and JVC and they are based at Lingfield Point.
Lygo International Ltd are industry leaders in designing, manufacturing and supplying accessories for all major video gaming platforms. They are Europe's largest private label games company, shipping and stock planning in excess of 5 million units a year. Their Corporate HQ is in Darlington.
Established in 1994, Onyx Group is one of the UK's leading technology providers, specialising in business continuity, data centres, network services, cloud and managed services. They are based in Stockton.
Darlington-based company that has grown into one of the UK's leading internet/web design companies, now providing websites for over 12,000 SMEs across the world. They employ around 50 people.
Leading rich-media merchandising and marketing platform developers, with clients including Waitrose, Dunhill, Superdry and boohoo.com. Opened their Middlesbrough office in 2012 due to the talent pool available in the North East.
